Collins Correct Facility is an intermediate security jail in Collins, New York in the United States. This prison is located in the southern part of Erie County in Collins City. This place is a joint venue with Gowanda Prison Facility, another medium-sized security jail. The two prisons are located north of Gowanda Village on the southern tip of Erie County.

History
In 1894, Erie County Legislature passed a law that led to the Homeopathic State Hospital (later known as the "Gowanda Psychiatric Center," before being converted into a correctional facility) in Gowanda and Collins, New York. Land purchased for State Hospital by Erie County includes 500 acres and is known as the "Taylor tract." When the State Treatment Act was carried out in 1894, the land was transferred to New York State, which was later submitted to the State Hospital. This penitentiary is located along Taylor Hollow Road in Gowanda, in such way it is named for farmers who own the land purchased and used, initially, for the State Hospital. About 50% of the population are sex offenders, who are offered treatment.
The land and buildings of both the Gowanda Penitentiary and Collins Correction Facility, therefore, were formerly the Gowanda Psychiatric Center. In 1982, 40% of the original 500 hectares of the Gowanda Psychiatric Center were used for the Collins Destruction Facility. Gowanda Correctional Facility was built using the remaining area and opened its doors in 1994. The two prisons are separated by fences, and are managed independently. Collins Correctional Facility holds 1,700 prisoners.
The prison also contains a security house unit, also known as SHU, for inmates who attack staff or other inmates and for those who do not comply with prison rules.
