The Otisville Correctional Facility is a state-level security jail located in Orange County, New York, USA. It is adjacent to the federal prison system (Federal Penitentiary, Otisville), but each facility operates separately from the others and they are otherwise unrelated. Both are in Hope Mountain City.
The site was used as a sanitarium tuberculosis (1906 - 1955), a division of the Youth facility (Otisville Training Facility, until 1972), and briefly became a drug treatment center, before becoming a state prison. Sawmills for the production of canning and maple were soon introduced to the work of inmates. Due to the length of the prison fence and rough terrain, the exterior guard is mounted on the horse.
