Rob Johnson (born February 10, 1973) is a former professional American soccer player who is now the assistant coach of Temple University men's soccer team.

He attended Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson Township, New Jersey, graduating from school in 1990. In Jackson, he also competed in athletics athletics, with his best efforts in high school including running 40 yards in 4.4 seconds, a long jump 21 feet 6 inches and a 6 foot eight inches high jump. Johnson is a state champion twice in wrestling and is recognized with the honor of all countries during his senior year in the field of wrestling and track and field. In 1999, he was named by The Star-Ledger as one of Ten New Jersey high school footballers in the 1990s. Johnson was one of four top 10 players in the 1990s who played for New York/New Jersey MetroStars/Red Bulls, joining Claudio Reyna, Petter Villegas and Billy Walsh.

Johnson played football at Rutgers University. Johnson scored 35 goals and 20 assists in his four seasons at Rutgers, with 90 points giving him an all-time 6th-ranked finish at Rutgers. He scored 13 goals and nine assists as a freshman, followed by 13 goals and seven assists in his second year, leading the team to the semi-finals of the NCAA tournament in 1994.

He played for New York/New Jersey MetroStars in the 1996 season after being withdrawn from the North Jersey Empire. In three seasons with MetroStars (mostly in 1996, plus two games in 1997 and one game in 1999), he scored four goals and had three assists. He played his first game with the team on June 19, 1996, a goalless game against Dallas Burn (now known as FC Dallas). His first goal came on July 24, 1996, winner of the match for MetroStar in a 1-0 win over the San Jose Clash (now the San Jose Earthquake). He played in three playoff games with MetroStars in 1996.

Johnson had been head coach at Gloucester County College and is now an assistant coach at Temple University.
