The Federal federal bureau, Oakdale (FCI Oakdale) is the US federal prison for male prisoners in Louisiana. It is part of the Oakdale Federal Extermination Complex (FCC) and is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the US Department of Justice.
The complex consists of two facilities:
- Federal Penitentiary, Oakdale (FCI Oakdale I): Low security facility.
- Federal Penitentiary, Oakdale (FCI Oakdale II): Low security facility.
FCI Oakdale is located in central Louisiana, thirty-five miles south of Alexandria and about eight miles north of Lake Charles.

The famous incident
June 22, 2009, 29-year-old inmate Alberto Gallegos-Velazquez attacked another prisoner in a recreation yard at FCI Oakdale. The victim's prisoners, unknown to the Prison Bureau, suffer from a fractured skull and intracranial hemorrhage that result in long-term disability including seizures, speech loss, and inability to move his right limb. Gallegos-Velazquez later pleaded guilty to an attack that resulted in a serious bodily injury and was sentenced to an additional fifty-one months in jail and ordered to pay over $ 158,000 in damages.
