The Franklin Correctional Institution is a state prison for men located in Carrabelle, Franklin County, Florida, owned and operated by the Florida Department of Improvement.
Franklin has a mix of security levels, including minimum, moderate, and close, and the homes of adult males. Franklin was first opened in 2005 and has a maximum capacity of 1346 detainees.

History
A federal civil rights lawsuit filed in 2016 accused the jailer of beating a prisoner and then turning off gas with 600 grams of chemical agents.
The facility was the scene of unrest in June 2016. About three hundred inmates destroyed two residential dormitories after drilling through concrete and brick walls using improvised tools. The detainees were reportedly surrendered after about two hours, and no casualties were reported. This is the third interruption in six months.
The fourth disorder occurred in November 2016.
