Virginia Department of Historic Resources is Virginia State Commonwealth Conservation Office. The agency maintains the Virginia Landmark Register (the first step for properties and districts in Virginia looking for a list on the National Register of Historic Places). It also has historic historic properties, manages the country's historic credit tax program, and approves markers of official state highway history for the country. Its headquarters is leased and shared with the Virginia Historical Society.
