Facilities
The prison opened in 2009 and has six housing pods, currently used for 18-year-old and older detainees of the Department of Michigan Department, except under certain circumstances when prisoners ages 17 and under are treated and accommodated separately. The facility is able to provide routine medical and dental care on site. The medical emergency is handled by the nearest hospital. Meals prepared in the kitchen outside the perimeter are safe and served in designated areas within the housing complex. The facility also provides religious programs, public libraries, and law libraries.
Security
Each prisoner uses an electronic fastening unit. The perimeter facility is patrolled by vehicles with armed personnel and is surrounded by a 14-foot (4.3 m) curved fence with an anti-climbing cloth and an electronic detection system.
