Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution is a state prison of the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) for women in Columbia, South Carolina. Women's Center for Reception and Evaluation, which processes all women who enter the SCDC, are in jail.
The prison opened in 1973 as a "Women's Correctional Institution". It was renamed in 2002 to honor the first woman jail guard with maximum security in South Carolina, Camille Griffin Graham. The current warden is Marian Boulware. South Carolina State death penalty dungeon for women. In January 2011, a young female prisoner with a history of mental illness succeeded in committing suicide. Death is under investigation.
The prison is one of 40, and the only jail in South Carolina, which participates in the Girl Scouts program from the United States, allowing Scout visits/ties to imprisoned mothers.
