Horace Dean Buttram Jr. , known professionally as H. Dean Buttram Jr. , (born November 12, 1950) is a former US District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and is currently a lawyer in private practice at the Center, Alabama.

Education and career
Born on 12 November 1950, at Gadsden, Alabama, Buttram received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jacksonville State University in 1972, Master of Business Administration and Public Administration Master from Jacksonville State University in 1975, and Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law on in 1978. He was in private practice at the Center, Alabama from 1978 to 1998.

Federal courts service
On August 31, 1998, Buttram was nominated by President Bill Clinton to seat in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama vacated by Robert B. Propst. Buttram was confirmed by the United States Senate on 8 October 1998, and received his commission on 9 October 1998. He resigned from the bench on 30 June 2002.
Post court service
Since his resignation, Buttram has served as a lawyer in private practice at Buttram Hawkins Hopper LLC law firm at the Center, Alabama.
